UMW met on Wednesday, January 6. Seventeen ladies attended. Mary Cook opened with prayer. Avis Halbert gave the devotional about letting God handle our problems. Martha Dinwiddie continued our Bible Study. The topic was "Justice."
After the Bible study we had our business meeting. Avis read the minutes from the December meeting. Jo Ann Jones read several "thank you" cards from the recipients of our gift sacks to the Sidelined Saints. Emilie reported our treasurer's report. We gave $300 to 4 of our charities instead of the usual $250. Our balance at year's end was $47. Pledge envelopes for 2010 were distributed. 
Nelda Perry gave an update on our Sidelined Saints. Members will bring signed valentines to the February meeting to send to them.
Members will continue to collect eyeglasses and cases, and empty prescription containers. 
Our next meeting will be Wednesday, February 3. All ladies are invited to attend our meetings. They are held in the church parlor at 10:00 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Come visit and see if you'd like to be a permanent member. We love our visitors!
